The tectonics and volcanism of Venus: New modes facilitated by realistic crustal rheology and intrusive magmatism

چکیده
To explain Venus' young surface age and lack of plate tectonics, tectonic regime has often been proposed to be either an episodic-lid with global lithospheric overturns, or equilibrium resurfacing numerous volcanic activities. Here, we use 2-D thermochemical convection models realistic parameters, including rheology (dislocation creep, diffusion plastic yielding), experiment-based plagioclase (An$_{75}$) crustal rheology, intrusive magmatism, investigate the tectonics mantle evolution Venus. We find that is strongly affected by rheology. With a ''weak'' plagioclase-rheology crust, exhibit episodic overturns but continuously high mobility distributed strain rates between leading new name ''deformable lid''. On other hand, olivine-crustal-rheology standard i.e. during near zero stagnant-lid near-zero over entire model time. Also, combination dislocation creep can weaken lithosphere sufficiently facilitate without applying yielding. Internally, composition-dependent density profile results in ''basalt barrier'' at transition zone, which affects evolution. Only strong plumes penetrate this basalt barrier cause overturns. This also causes internal generate models, suggests mechanism (we it ''stagnant episodic-volcanic-resurfacing'') does not involve

Volcanism and Tectonics on Venus
We review recent developments in the study of volcanism and tectonics on Venus. Venus’s crust is basaltic, dry, and probably about 30 km thick. The mantle convects, giving rise to plumes, and has a similar composition and mean temperature (∼1300◦C), but a higher viscosity (∼1020 Pa s), than that of the Earth. Inferred melt generation rates constrain the lithospheric thickness to between 80 and ...
متن کاملon the comparison of keyword and semantic-context methods of learning new vocabulary meaning
the rationale behind the present study is that particular learning strategies produce more effective results when applied together. the present study tried to investigate the efficiency of the semantic-context strategy alone with a technique called, keyword method. to clarify the point, the current study seeked to find answer to the following question: are the keyword and semantic-context metho...
15 صفحه اولStatistical self-similarity of magmatism and volcanism
Magraatism and volcanism exhibit spatial and temporal clustering on a wide range of scales. Using the spatial pair-correlation function, the number of pairs of magmatic orvolcanic events whose separation is between r« Ar and r + « Ar per unit area, we quantify the spatial clustering of raagraatism and volcanism in several data sets. Statistically self-similar clustering characterized by power l...
